Crew Chamberlain
I was born in 1952 in Fullerton, Ca. As a prime time baby boomer I was a witness and participant to the youth culture that rocked the USA. Surfing, cars, girls, the beach, surf music, the Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, Motown, etc are the soundtrack of my life. From 12 to 16 years of age I was in a garage band (the RubberBand) and the collaboration with my band mates was the best part of the experience. I also enjoyed painting, photography, reading, and films.
Those are mostly solo endeavors so when I got to USC Film School I rediscovered my enjoyment of working with a team. After graduating my plan was to become an editor and maybe someday a director. Somehow I became a Production Sound Mixer and worked in Hollywood local 695 for 44 years. These days I’m kind of retired.
While my love of music never faded during the many years of working and raising a family, in fact it only grew through the decades, I had put away my instruments as it was a luxury I didn’t time for. So with my schedule now cleared I figured it was the time to reengage with my first love for music while using my years of recording experience to create original songs with like minded Family, Friends, and Neighbors. This is how PurpleOrangeTreeStudio came to be. I even get to make, edit, and direct our music videos. Dreams can come true. I hope you enjoy our songs and videos. Thanks you.
Steve Wright
Born and raised in Southern California, Steve spent many years playing in a ‘Top Forty’ cover band, as well as a ‘60’s cover band. “Those experiences showed me there’s nothing more infectious than a strong musical hook”, he says.
These days, when he’s not backing up a couple of local singer/songwriters at gigs in Fullerton, he’s busy working at PurpleOrangeTree Studios with Crew Chamberlain on original songs and videos. Steve says, “It’s a joy to put together our projects. In fact, the greatest satisfaction comes from the process of creating a musical or visual idea in a collaborative environment. It’s so energizing.

Kelly Hungerford
My passion for music began sometime in the late 50’s listening to my parents small collection of mostly show tunes and artists like Ray Charles, Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dinah Washington etc. I bought my first records around 1962. Things like The Chrystals, Ray Stevens, The Coasters and such. Then like most everybody else here in California Surf music followed by the British Invasion. I’ve always loved clever lyrics and songs that tell stories by artists like the Kinks, Harry Nillson and Tom Waits.
So fast forward some fifty years and along with some long time musician friends with time on their hands we began making songs in Crew’s little studio. I write some of the lyrics and get to hang out at PurpleOrangeTreeStudio with my friends and watch them make songs.
Cali
The best dog and muse ever. She keeps us grounded, playful and is an ever patient listener during our jam sessions, only requiring pets, treats and love in return for her inspiration and affection.
